A Lovely Poetry
Knox Visnak
A well with no bottom is poetry
A leaf with sprawling and infinitely small patterns is poetry
Conversation between our woes and hopes, though unseen, is poetry
For all things with depth you can’t quite comprehend,
As endless as it is beautiful is poetry.
Because I could fall into the giant maw of our sky till the sun blinks its auburn eye,
Because I discover fresh baked pies with hot chocolate and whipped cream nearby,
Because I lay next to you every night, warmed by this being, who’s heaven sent,
Because you are poetry, and every little conversation well spent
You are the poetry that speaks soft soothing whispers between thunderstrikes,
You are the poetry I find looking for lost keys dressing on eves for our borrowed grief,
You are the poetry that crackles under and I’m the pan, imbued with a fiery life,
You are my poetry, for I can find you in my every night and find softness in your eyes.
True Romance
Kayla Weimer
I always said I wasn’t much of a romantic
But as I lie buried in the soft earth,
facing darkness I deserve,
all I crave is your touch
Touch like the night I met you,
when your hand grazed the side of my arm
At that moment I realized I was yours
no matter how many cuts, how many bruises I would sustain
When I sewed up the gash, I knew love was real
And though I see flames when my eyes close,
I still miss that night you heard him coming up the stairs.
I flew naked out your window,
and held my breath when the door burst open,
sitting poised in the tree
like a creature of Eden
In visions I see
the night I wasn’t fast enough
Those final moments before I was ripped away
from you forever
I always said I wasn’t much of a romantic
But darling, if I had the chance,
I would go back to you,
let you call me whatever you wanted,
and this time,
never let you go.

I Wonder If
Sophia Robertson
My radar is working, if
Its readings are correct, if
Those were signals, if
You meant to set off
Alerts in the bridge,
And if
I should raise anchor, if
I should change course, if
I should radio my fleet, if
Those blips warranted
Full steam ahead,
Because if
The alarm is sounded, if
The flares are used, if
The helm is seized, if
This ship raced to meet
A phantom on the open sea,
You'd see not a captain but a fool.
I’ll Miss You
Knox Visnak
I miss you in the days gone by
Sunsets casting off a lonely sky
Though as Luna rises past
A call will soon come at last
I miss you in these concrete halls
As deskbound thoughts prance around
My mind entrapped in song and dance
So difficult to escape such lovely trance
I’ll miss you when this hour ends
As classes leave and bags are packed
I’ll miss you in the halls we walk
As emptiness is filled with laugh

I Need You In My Sight
Cheyenne Cross
Days fade into blissful nights,
The lights in the street
Pollute your beautiful glow
A pestilent dampening
You're forced to endure
But I will not be infected
I will not ignore
For you’re the only one I adore
And when the power gets cut
By a madman
In the conquest of love
You’ll shine evermore
